Human growth hormone
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is an injectable peptide hormone that is also released by the pituitary gland. In the context of increasing height it acts via 2 main pathways:
Numero Uno:[edit | edit source]
HGH is too large of molecule to penetrate cell membranes so the only way it can function in its non-metabolised state is by binding to growth hormone receptors (GHRs) where processes such as cell division occur, most notably in cartilage.
Numero Dos:[edit | edit source]
HGH is most often brought up in the context of height augmentation when we're looking at the metabolisation, in conjuction with insulin in the liver to produce insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) this hormone is essential for bone growth
